Based on the Melexis MLX90614 chip, the GY-906 sensor allows to detect the surface temperature of an object without physical contact, such as in the case of a thermocouple or an NTC or PTC. The thermal energy radiated from the object on which it intends to perform the measurement is converted into electrical potential and suitably treated and digitized, thanks to a 17bit ADC and the DSP presents to its inside, making it possible to interpret the data in digital processors , MCUs and development kits as Arduino, through the two-wire I2C serial communication. The connection is therefore reduced to only 4 conductors typical of serial I2C protocol.
