Reed switches are electromechanical components that work using technology of Reed contacts, realized for the first time by Bell. Reed is a switch or a relay (normally open) that closing in the presence of a magnetic field. The contacts are protected in an hermetic tube glass with filled of inert gas; this allows have a very high reliability (up to 100 million switching cycles) also the force of attraction, once the edges have touched, is very high, and this reduces the generation of bounces and the production of false signals.
Reed devices are used in the production of various types of sensors for detection of magnetic fields and complex equipment where it is used as a transducer.
